Cityscape Eau de Parfum for Her & Cityscape Cologne Spray for Him The simplicity of modern architecture inspired the concept and packaging for this masterbrand fragrance. The look of the fragrance bottle and its functionality are integral to the design experience. The frames of the bottles are finished with a high-gloss coating that encase the fragrance like the windowpanes in a luxury penthouse suite. The fragrance logo is frosted onto the glass so as not to obstruct the view out of the window. Each carton is set apart with distinctive embossing techniques to complete the design. The men’s cologne spray features a clean column-emboss pattern inspired by the vertical lines cast down by skyscrapers towering along the city streets. The women’s parfum features a sculpted diamond-emboss pattern that evokes the corner view from a skyscraper: diagonal lines cutting across the cityscape. During the design process, it was crucial for the creative team to work closely with the packaging engineers and suppliers to ensure that the proposed design was truly feasible and that it would convey the creative vision. Working with paperboard, the deep embossing required to give the carton the sculpted effect was rather challenging. On-press adjustments were required to perfect the precise height needed for the emboss pattern to be impactful without cracking the stock. Manufactured by Multi Packaging Solutions, the cartons were printed on Neenah Environment board. It was rewarding to see this innovative package come to life.
